POSI Badges

Embeddable badges that journals with a POSI record can display on their own website, linking back to it. Core Collection journals get a "POSI Verified" badge; candidate journals (admitted once, since demoted below the PQF eligibility bar) get a distinctly gold-styled "POSI Candidate" badge instead — never the same design, so the two can't be confused. Larger badge variants show a journal's AJR (POSI Automated Rating) score out of 100.

Eligibility is enforced, not just requested. Badge images are generated only for journals with a real POSI record — Core Collection (manually or auto-PQF reviewed, see PQF Eligibility) or candidate. A badge URL for any other journal code returns a 404 — there is no way to display a valid POSI badge without an actual POSI record, and no way to make a candidate badge render as a Core Collection one.

Usage Terms

Reviewed journals only

Badges are issued to journals with an official or auto-assessed PQF review — Core Collection or candidate. Auto-discovered, unreviewed records are not eligible.

Must link back

The badge should link to your journal's POSI record (the embed snippet includes this automatically) so readers can verify the record themselves.

Not an endorsement

A POSI badge reflects that a journal has a reviewed record with a PQF assessment — it is not a certification, accreditation, or guarantee of quality. See What POSI Is Not.

Style changes with status

A badge's design tracks the journal's current status automatically — a Core Collection journal demoted to candidate gets the gold candidate badge at the same URL, not a broken image. Badges should not be cached indefinitely by the embedding site.
